Light to moderate rain likely

Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) on Friday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country.

According to the Met office’s regular bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country. 

A low pressure area has been formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, center of the low and thence northeastwards to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh a moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

Mild heat wave was sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and Pabna and Bogura districts and it may continue.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country’s maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 36.8 degree Celsius in Sylhet and Friday’s minimum temperature 24.4 degree Celsius was recorded in Bandarban.

Country’s maximum rainfall for the 24 hours till 6:00 am on Friday was recorded 42 millimeters (MM) at Badalgachi in Naogaon district.

The sun sets at 06.30 pm on Friday and rises at 05.35 am today (Saturday) in the capital.
