License of two rice dealers cancelled

License of  two rice dealers involved in selling rice of the poor and illegally reserving it, was revoked in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon.  Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Alam Sumon confirmed this on Friday afternoon.

On Thursday morning, two rickshaw vans and a Nasimon were carrying, 68 sacks rice of Khaddobandhob Programme to Kushaldangi of Barapalashbari union of Baliadangi upazila.  Locals seized the vehicles on suspicion. Seeing the situation unfolded, the driver of the van escaped and people captured the Nasimon driver Panna Kausar.

Upon receiving the news, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Alam Sumon seized those 68 sacks of rice from the road. The arrested Nasimon driver Panna Kawasar said that the rice sacks were being transported from OMS dealer Abdul Rashid’s Morolhat warehouse to the warehouse of Khaddobandhob Programme dealer Amirul Islam’ss Warehouse in Kushaldangi market.

On the basis of the information given by him, UNO raided five warehouses, including three of Amirul Islam’s Vai Vai Husking Mill in Kushaldangi area of Barapa­lasbari union.  During the raid, 821 sacks of rice were seized in three warehouses of Amirul. Later, UNO sealed three warehouses of Amirul's and two of his younger brother, Jamerul Islam. At that time, police detained 

Jamerul Islam.

On Thursday night, Baliadangi Upazila food controller Nikhil Chandra Barman filled a case against 6 including Amirul, Jamerul, Amirul's wife UP member Kalsuma Akhter and Rashid with Ballyadangi Police Station in this connection.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Alam Sumon revoked the license of dealer Amirul Islam of Barapalasbari union and Abdur Rashid of Amjankhor union later.
