Janata Bank Limited has provided funds for the construction of memorial plaques to preserve the remote places of the country attached to the memory of the great liberation war.
Janata Bank Chairman Dr SM Mahfuzur Rahman inaugurated the memorial plaques at Khairguni, Daudpur and Matihara of Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur on Saturday.
MD and CEO of the bank, Md Abdus Salam Azad, Directors KM Shamsul Alam, Mohammad Asad Ullah, Ziauddin Ahmed, Md Abdul Majid and Rubina Amin, Nawabganj Upazila Chairman Md Ataur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Animesh Som and other local freedom fighters and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
While delivering a brief speech, the chairman of the bank SM Mahfuzur Rahman said, “We all have to come forward to preserve the memories of the liberation war.”
Md Abdus Salam Azad, MD and CEO of the bank, said, “We are working to preserve the memory of the liberation war along with banking services. Memorial plaques have been built to introduce the new generation to the remote areas of the country where the pakistani aggressors carried out barbaric genocide.”
Earlier, the guests participated in the inaugural function of 'Ekattar Chattar' in Nawabganj in memory of the martyrs of the liberation war.
