A new Islamic political alliance comprised of some likeminded liberal parties, mostly Islamic political parties, holding the spirit of the war of liberation and the core values of the Islam religion, is going to be formed soon.
Jote insiders said the main aim of the alliance will be to working actively in removing religious blindness and orthodoxies from the society through political practices and contribute to further expedite the flow of development and advancement of the country.
Sources said that Alhaj Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh Islami Oikko Jote (BIOJ) is coordinating with the probable parties to form the alliance while Shahzada Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari, Chairman of Bangladesh Supreme Party will also be in a leading role. While talking to this correspondent, Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury said "Still there has orthodox thinking in the society in terms of describing Islamic regulations whereas Islam is so liberalized and complete code of life that leads people and society only towards peace, humanity, purity and harmony".
Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, an active partner of the then 'Moha Jote', led by Bangladesh Awami League, had been working with devotion for the government without having any sorts of personal benefit.
Misbahur Rahman informed that the alliance is planned to be named ‘Liberal Political Alliance’, while discussion is going on with some Qaumi, Tariqwat leaders, social organisations, civil society leaders who have courage to work fearlessly as part of the alliance".
“The alliance will bear the mandate to promote the spirit of the war of liberation and preaching the core values Islam in the society as its main principles", Misbahur Rahman added.
Replying to a query, he said the alliance is not being formed targeting to the upcoming national elections, but , he hoped that it will be able to contribute significantly in favor of the development and advancement of the country.
" We are consulting, exchanging opinion and sharing thoughts with some likeminded liberal political parties who only bear the ideology and spirit of liberation war and values of Islam to take as partners of the alliance who must be anti-militant and anti-extremism", he added.
He, however, expressed that the true lesson of Islam is to eliminate all kinds of imparity among people and the patriotism would be the main motto of the new alliance.
“There will be a big difference between other Islamic parties and Liberal Islamic Alliance as we are in favor of liberation war, democracy, modernity, liberal Islam, and we believe in communal harmony but they are not”, said the BIOJ Chairman.
