LGED, DPHE delegation visits dev projects in Rohingya camps

A high-level government delegation led by senior secretary to Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) SM Golam Faruk visited the sites of different development projects being implemented with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank by LGED and Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE).

The delegation visited the areas of ongoing projects on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning different Rohingya camps at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

At that time, Golam Faruk inaugurated the community bathing facilities water supply activities of DPHE at Kutupalong Rohingya Camp. Later, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of Madhurchhara Food Distribution Centre and Feliapara Cyclone Centre in Ukhia upazila. 

Refugee, Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Md Abul Kalam project director AKM Rezaul Islam along with top officials of different government and global organisation were present. 

Prior to that, a meeting was was held at UNHCR conference room to brief over the development projects. Presided over by LGED chief engineer Md Abul Kalam the meeting was attended by Golam Faruk as the chief guest.

ADB country director Manmohan Prakash, DPHE chief engineer Saifur Rahman, Economic Relations Department additional secretary Farida Nasrin, Cox’s Bazar Mayor Mujibur Rahman and LGED  excutive engineer Mirza Md Iftekhar Ali, among others, attended the meeting.
