The Chandra Intersection of Dhaka-Tangail highway in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur is completely empty after the Eid holiday. No traffic jam was spotted in the area and most of the homebound people are returning home in relief with ease after the suffering of the passengers before Eid-ul-Azha.
According to the driver and police sources, the Kaliakair Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur is one of the busiest highways in the country. As a result, there was multiple traffic jams on this highway at Chandra area in Kaliakair upazila in previous years. But this time, the picture looks a little different. This year the highway was upgraded to four lines. As a result, this year's road was mostly empty compared to last year. Although there was some traffic jam on the first day of the holiday, the road was empty on the second and third day. In addition, with the opening of several flyovers and underpasses, the picture of this highway has been completely reversed this Eid. As all the factories were closed at the same time, there was a traffic jam on the highway for the last two days. There was pressure from passengers and cars. But this year ordinary people have returned home in relief. The biggest contributor was the law enforcement agencies. Passengers said that the suffering of the people has been reduced a lot as the police force has performed its duties properly. This time, the district police, the white-clad police, the highway police and the mobile courts have blocked the roads, protected the passengers from the hands of the syndicate, and aimed at preventing them from charging higher fares.
Alamgir Hossain, who was on his way home from Dhaka to Rangpur, said he had been under traffic for two days. I left Dhaka this morning and this moon came in just two hours. The development of the government is in sight this year. The road that the government has taken is commendable. It seems that there will be no more traffic jams on the rest of the road.
Salna Police Station OC Firoz Hossain said that despite the traffic congestion of the last two days, the highway is completely empty today. The two-day street riots are no more today.
