Legal notice has been issued to the Prothom Alo editor including other concerned authorities, seeking compensation of Tk 10 crore over the death of Naimul Abrar, a nonresident student of class nine of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC). Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Faiz sent the notice on Sunday to registrar post on behalf of Obaid Ahmed, a former former student of DRMC.
The notice has been directed towards Editor and publisher of Prothom Alo, Editor of Kishore Alo, secretaries of Information, Education, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. However, the compensation has been asked to be paid by the Editor and publisher of Prothom Alo and Editor of Kishore Alo.
In addition to compensation, the notice also asked the Information Ministry Secretary, the Education Ministry Secretary and the Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources to ensure special security measures for conducting any kind of programme at any educational institutions.
In addition to these, within three days of receiving the notice, the compensators were asked to provide an explanation regarding the incident. The 10 crore compensation money has been asked to be paid to Abrar Rahat's family.
