Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that where the government has saved the state Tk 20,000 crore, legal action will be taken against those who are lying about it, including TIB.
In response to a question from journalists at the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday afternoon, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "The health minister told at a news conference that we have given vaccine worth 40,000 crore Tk. Bangladesh has started vaccination activities in 130 countries of the world when vaccination has not started yet. More than 25 crore doses have been given in the country, of which 13 crore are first dose, more than 11 crore are second dose and 1.5 crore are booster dose. Despite being a developing country, in Bangladesh this whole vaccine has been given to every person for free, which has not happened in many developed countries of the world. It has spent worth Tk 20,000 crore on procurement, nationwide supply and management of vaccines. And in the context of free collection, the government has saved the state Tk 20,000 crore.
While the government has saved the state Tk 20,000 crore, the TIB has said the opposite, he said. He said the death toll in Coronavirus in the country is 1.5 per cent and the TIB statement says it is 7.6 per cent. This shows what kind of amateur organization TIB is. About 30,000 people have died in Bangladesh so far but if the imaginary death rate of TIB is taken, that number will be one and a half lakh. The Information and Broadcasting Minister said, "TIB has deliberately given fabricated information to blame the country in the name of hasty research without any research and to provide fabricated information against the government. Legal action needs to be taken against those who are committing such lies. Where the whole world, the World Health Organization, the United Nations praises, they have opened the box of criticism. If necessary, legal action will be taken against TIB and legal notice will be given. Dr Hasan said that Thursday is the birthday of Bangabandhu's second son Shahid Sheikh Jamal. He escaped from house arrest in Dhanmondi in 1971 with his life in his hands and took part in the war of liberation with training. After independence, he trained as a second lieutenant in Yugoslavia and Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. Noting that Sheikh Jamal, who was assassinated on August 15, 1975, could have given a lot to the country.
