Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said that legal action would be taken against objectionable content in web series.
The information minister said this while exchanging views with journalists at the meeting room of the Information Ministry at the secretariat on Wednesday, a press release of the ministry said.
According to the notice, the crime thriller series 'August 14' and 'Boomerang' are being discussed and criticized. The information minister said that such content which is offensive or resembles pornography should not be uploaded.
Hasan Mahmud said that the matter had come to the notice of the Information Ministry before the news broke in the media.
The information minister said it would be examined whether there was legal sanction to upload such content through BTRC. They will be stopped if there is no legal approval.
And even if there is legal approval, it is a punishable offense to violate the contents of the Pornography Control Act. The government will take action according to the law.
