Police detained secretary general of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Redwan Ahmed in possession of seven bullets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka on Monday morning.

Security officials of the airport said that seven rounds of bullets were detected in the luggage of Redwan while he was going through security screening prior to board on a flight from Dhaka to Chattogram this morning.

“He was carrying the bullets without the airport authority’s permission,” said aviation security director of HSIA Wing Commander Obaidur Rahman.

The airport authorities later handed him over to the police. During initial interrogation, Redwan claimed that he was not aware of the fact that the bullets were in his luggage, said officer-in-charge (OC) of airport thana Md Noor-e-Azam Miah.

The OC said although Redwan Ahmed has legal documents of his arm, he carried it without prior declaration.  He was sent to the court, he added.
