LCG Group of Philippines keen to invest in PowerPac Economic Zone

The visiting delegation of LCG Group of Companies of Philippines led by the company chairman Luis “Chavit” C. Singson, also the Mayor of Narvacan Municipality, has expressed keen willingness to invest in the PowerPac Economic Zone, the first Special Economic Zone under PPP model in Bangladesh.

The delegation of the visiting LCG Group of Companies held a meeting with the high-ups of Sikder Group on Wednesday. Ron Haque Sikder, Director of Sikder Group and Managing Director of PowerPac Economic Zone and other dignitaries of Sikder group and its ancillaries were present during the meeting where Luis “Chavit” C. Singson, chairman of LCG Group of Companies expressed his keen willingness to invest in the PowerPac Economic Zone.

PowerPac Economic Zone, a concern of Sikder Group, a Bangladeshi business conglomerate, the first company that was awarded with a license for 50 years to design, build, finance, own, operate and transfer (DBFOOT) of Mongla Economic Zone, Bagerhat under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with the support of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).

Later the visiting delegation of Philippines led by Luis “Chavit” C. Singson, chairman, LCS Group of Companies and Mayor of Narvacan Municipality, Philippines, calls on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban yesterday.  Ron Haque Sikder, Director of Sikder Group, and other dignitaries of the group were also present during the courtesy meeting with the President.

PowerPac Economic Zone is strategically well connected with the capital and other major cities in Bangladesh. It is located beside the river Mongla and Mongla Sea Port is only 2 km away from the site. It is bounded by Upazila Rampal in the North, Mongla EPZ on the South, the Mongla River in the east and the Pashur/Mongla Port on the west.

The site for the PowerPac economic zone has been identified as a land parcel of 205 acres that lies 40 km from Khulna city, 105 km from Jessore airport and 230 km from capital Dhaka.

The government of Bangladesh has taken initiatives to establish 100 Economic Zones on 30,000 hectares of land in the next 15 years with employment generation for 10 million people.

The delegation of the visiting LCG Group of Companies will visit the PowerPac economic zone site today.
