Law Minister Anisul Huq has said that the government will take tougher action against the Hefazat-e-Islam if it tries to create anarchy, chaos and harms the lives and property of the people in the country.

He also said that the Hefazat-e-Islam will be dealt with politically and legally.  Bangladesh has the effective laws to prevent the communal activities as well as anarchic activities of the radical platform. Legal action will be taken against Hefazat if it declares jihad against the State, he added.

The minister made the remarks while talking to journalists after receiving the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Hospital in the capital on Saturday (April 10).

He called upon everyone to take the Covid-19 vaccine, saying that the government has the capacity to provide vaccines to all. He, however, hoped that the rapid surge of Covid-19 cases will reduce in the country if people receive the second dose of vaccine.

About the Hefazat-e-Islam, Anisul Huq said that the communal force has carried out violence in different parts of the country. Those who were involved in the violence will have to face legal action.

“The people of the country gave their mandate to the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to discharge the responsibilities for serving the countrymen. If anyone makes any attempt to hamper discharging the responsibilities, the government will take action in accordance with the law,” he said.
