Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) failed to identify the suspected police personnel who reportedly hurled abusive words and physically harassed a female college teacher for wearing a teep on her forehead in city’s Farmgate area, even after twenty four hours of the incident.

However, Biplob Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner of DMP’s Tejgaon Divison told that they were trying to identify the policeman.

“We have checked and analysed more than one hundred CCTV footages of the area and adjacent areas. We are yet to identify the policeman”, he stated.

According to him, police yet to be able to trace the authenticity of such an incident yet as the footages of the area aren't too clear.

Inspector Utpal Barua, officer in-charge of Sher-e Bangla Nagar Police Station also said, “The female teacher unclearly recalled the motorcycle's registration number. That is why we could not trace the police yet.”

He further said, “We are still analysing each information using technological support. The DMP high-ups are also aware of the incident.”

Responding to a question of the Bangladesh Post, Inspector Utpal Barua said, the written complaint was lodged as general diary.
