Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said the law enforcement agencies acted quickly to arrest the accused in the Noakhlai incident.

Terming the assault on Noakhali woman as an act of extreme brutality, the home boss said the perpetrators would soon be brought to book.

He further said those involved in such heinous act deserve highest punishment. Law enforcement agencies did not show any negligence in this regard.

The minister made the remarks while talking to journalists at his Secretariat office over the recent issues.

He also assured that those involved in Sylhet MC College rape incident would be punished.

"The culprits must be punished for such heinous crime. We shall submit a flawless investigation report so that they are awarded punishment," he added.

Everyone including the district deputy commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Superintendent of Police are working against the rapists, said Asaduzzaman.

When questioned about the police and local administration's ignorance on this brutality that went viral on social media more than month ago, the minister said, "Victims usually hide after such incidents. They do not want to disclose the matter. I don't know what happened in this case.”

He said, "When it came to our knowledge and our law enforcers saw it, they started working and caught them very quickly."

He also dismissed a question on culture of impunity resulting in such incidents by saying trial of such incidents is taking place.

Miscreants assaulted a woman after undressing her in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on September 2.

So far, a total of six people including Badal and Delwar Bahini chief Delwar were arrested amid widespread outrage over the incident.
