Law and order situation remain stable in city: DMP commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Sunday said the law and order situation in the city is now stable as the police officials work hard with utmost sincerity, reports BSS.

“I am grateful to you. The DMP is now in a prestigious position for your collective efforts and the law and order situation in the city is stable,” he said referring to police officials who went to retirement. The DMP commissioner was addressing a farewell reception to the retired police officials as the chief guest at the DMP headquarters in the city, said a press release in the capital.

Terming the DMP as the largest unit of police, the commissioner said you are going to retirement with honor after completing your service tenure. “We joined the police service to serve the common people. We are working relentlessly to ensure security of the people keeping aside thinking about our family members,” Shafiqul added.

Urging the retired police officials not to feel lonely, he said, “You should not think that none stay besides you. We are besides you”. Additional Police Commissioner (administration) Mir Rezaul Alam delivered welcome speech in the function while retired Inspector Abdur Rashid expressed his emotion regarding his service in DMP, added the press release. The DMP accorded farewell reception to its 93 officials with bouquets, crests and citation papers. DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam handed over the gifts to the retired officials.
