Launching effective social movement to prevent corruption stressed

Officials on Friday at a discussion in Rangpur stressed on launching an effective social movement against corruption in the spirit of  Liberation War to build a corruption-free society.

They viewed this at the post-rally and post-human chain discussion held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city in observance of the International Anti Corruption Day-2022.

The district administration jointly with the District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC), Sochetan Nagorik Samaj and TIB organised colorful programmes marking the day.

Government officials, teachers, students, members of District CPC and school level Integrity Units, its Advisory Council Members and civil society members attended the programmes.

Earlier, Divisional Commissioner Sabirul Islam with high officials formally inaugurated the day's programmes by hoisting national flag and releasing balloon.

With Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Dr Chitralekha Nazneen in the chair, the Divisional Commissioner addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, Director of the ACC at Rangpur divisional office Abdul Karim and President of District Shushanto Kumar Khan addressed as special guests.

Lauding implementation of the National Integrity Strategy and zero tolerance policy against corruption, the speakers stressed on participation of people to prevent corruption through stopping misuse of power and public money by a fewer section of public servant and others. 

The chief guest called for mobilising social forces against corruption and educating young students values of honesty and integrity for building a corruption-free society with a patriotic zeal.  "The extent of corruption has started reducing as a result of growing anti-corruption attitude among people against corruption on the way to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
