Late land minister’s family helps fire-affected traders

The family of late Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, the late MP from Pabna-4 constituency, has provided cash and corrugated tin roof to fire-hit businessman. 

On Monday evening, cash was handed over to businessman Anarul Islam in Sultanpur village of Dashuria union in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

Two or three party leaders and activists said that a fire broke out at around 12 pm on Thursday and burnt down goods worth several lakh taka belonging to businessman Anarul's business establishment. 

The businessman is now nearly broke. After hearing this news, Ishwardi Upazila Mahila Awami League president Kamrunnahar Sharif, wife of late MP Shamsur Rahman Sharif, took initiative to help the businessman.

On Monday evening, on behalf of Kamrunnahar Sharif, her son Sakibur Rahman Sharif, a former member of the sub-committee on industrial and commercial affairs of the Central Awami League, went to the house of Konak Anarul Islam. 

There he spoke to him and expressed sympathy for the loss he suffered in the accident.

He later handed over Tk 50,000 in cash on behalf of his mother Kamrunnahar Sharif to help businessman Anarul. 

He also announced to provide corrugated iron and cement for the reconstruction of the business establishment. Leaders and activists of Dashuria Union Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League were present at the time.
