Ishwardi Municipality (Pourasabha) has conducted a larvae and mosquito killing drive following the rise in number of dengue patients.
Subir Kumar Das, UNO, Ishwardi Upazila inaugurates the drive in a drain in front of the main gate of Upazila Parishad on Tuesday.
Before that, Ishaq Ali Malitha, Mayor, Ishwardi Pourasabha delivered a short speech at the inauguration of the programme. The mayor said that many dengue patients are being admitted to Ishwardi, Pabna and Rajshahi hospitals and a number of patients have already lost their lives. So, it is the high time to take proper step for dengue control.
Among others, Jaharul Huq, Poura Executive Officer (PNO), Mustak Ahmed Kiron, President, Ishwardi Press Club, journalists Mahbubul Huq Dulu, Salim Sarder and Sheikh Mehdi Hasan were present in the programme.
Dr FA Asma Khan, Upazila Heath and Family Planning Officer said that day by day the number of dengue patients are increasing in the Upazila. So, separate dengue Unit has been opened here. Four people died of dengue, so far. Among them, three died in Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex and one in another hospital.
