Largest overseas art exhibition for self-taught Bangladeshi artists at Dubai begins tomorrow

PowerPac presents ‘BIJOY’, the first group art exhibition of more than 75 artists -- 55 from Bangladesh and 20 from other nationalities, to celebrate the 51st Victory Day of Bangladesh. 

The 10-day-long mega international art exhibition is organised jointly by Funun Arts, UAE and Mahfuz Canvas, Bangladesh, at Dubai International Art Center (DIAC), Dubai in the UAE from December 12 to 21.

Seventy-five paintings are participating in the exhibition to celebrate the 51st Victory Day of Bangladesh. Fifty-five Bangladeshi self-taught artists and artists from 20 diverse nationalities will be showcasing their works depicting that art is beyond borders and artists are always on forefront to be the part of celebration.  

This victory of the Bangladesh came on December 16, 1971 under the prudent leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BM Jamal Hossain, Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Suhail Mohammad Al Zarooni, an Emirati well-established renowned business personnel as well as Guinness World Record holder, will inaugurate the art event.

Title sponsor of the event PowerPac, a concern of Sikder Group, is one of the largest business conglomerates based in Bangladesh having more than 70 business ventures around the globe. 

PowerPac Chairman Rick Haque Sikder and Managing Director Ron Haque Sikder stated that this is a prestigious event to sponsor to show their tribute to the Victory of Bangladesh and this will be the pride for the nation arranging such a large overseas art event showing the culture of Bangladesh through the artist canvases. 

Ron also added that the exhibition with a specific focus on encouraging artists to improve their creations by giving them a global platform and encouraging them to honour other cultures of Bangladesh and their histories through their artworks.

For Mahfuz Canvas, the first largest overseas art exhibition is going to be the ‘BIJOY’ show. 

Mahfuzur Rahman, the founder of Mahfuz Canvas, has said that they view this endeavour as their greatest international achievement and this is the largest overseas self-taught Bangladeshi artists’ art exhibition yet. 

He thanked the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Dubai and PowerPac, the title sponsor of the event, for their support towards this event. 

Shiba Khan and Farah Khan, founders of Funun Arts, said that is the largest overseas art show by Bangladeshi artists at Dubai and it is a pride for them to be part of the exhibition.

Shiba and Farah also added that their aim is to represent art and bring talents to light. Artists wishing to participate in the show have been given complete freedom to present themselves in any way they see fit.
