The historic Language Movement ensured the primary right of speaking in mother tongue for every Bengali. The language heroes struggled and many of them sacrificed their lives to confirm the right to the next generations.
Language is the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing the tangible and intangible heritage of a nation.
Today, we are very proud as we can speak in our mother tongue and we are living in an independent country. But, Bengalis had to struggle and fight for a long time to ensure Bengali as the state language and free Bangladesh from Pakistan. We fought for our language, our identity, and our freedom.
The Language Movement started in 1948 and continued till 1956. However, the movement was accelerated on February21 in 1952. After years of conflict, the central Pakistan government relented and granted official status to the Bengali language in 1956.
The whole nation is very proud of the language heroes and freedom fighters for their contribution in achieving Bengali as the official state language and free Bangladesh from Pakistani autocratic ruler.
