Land services hotline from October

In a bid to provide prompt, transparent and efficient land services to the people, the government is all set to introduce a hotline from the 10th of next month (October). "The land service hotline (call centers) no. 16123 of the Ministry of Land is expected to be a milestone in the process of providing prompt services to the doorstep of people across the country," said Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury on Monday.

He was addressing a meeting of the Land Reform Board's officials at the board headquarters at BIWTA building, at Motijheel in the city. The minister also said, they will ensure transparency in every land office of the country. The newly set up hotline will help receive complaints from the citizens regarding irregularities, committed by the Land Office.

Land Secretary Md. Muksodur Rahman Patwary, Additional Secretary (Development) Md. Abdul Haque, LRB member Mohammad Zakir Hossain and Zahida Khanam including officials at various levels of ministry and board were also present at the meeting with Chairman of the Land Reform Board (LRB) Ummul Hasna in the chair.

Addressing as special guest, the land secretary stressed collecting land development tax from government agencies, saying that the honorable Prime Minister has strict directive on this. Speakers recommended strong steps in obtaining money from LA cases (land acquisition) and to continue the lease activities of all the land which was granted as per the directions of the Ministry of Land.
