Land service will be made easier: Land Minister

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chow­dhury said land service will be made much easier and investment-friendly to increase ‘ease of doing business’ in the country.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said this while addressing the chief guest at the signing ceremony of the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for the fiscal year 2022-2023 with the Ministry of Land and its affiliated departments / agencies under the government's performance management system held at the conference room of the Ministry of Land on Thursday. Land Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman PAA was present as the Chair at that time.

Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said land is one of the most important elements of investment in industry. We need to take land service management to a point where foreign investors express ‘WOW!’ with admiration, when they see the necessary and applicable formalities in land matters such as Mutation, Land Development Tax or Leasing process etc setting up and running industries.

The minister said there is no alternative to investing in the productive sector for the economic development of the country. Therefore, in the interest of rapid economic development, the country needs to go many steps further in the ' Ease of doing Business' index.

The Land Minister said, we have already made arrangements to do the mutation of all the existing important industrial establishments, limited companies, export-oriented industrial establishments and companies in Chittagong, Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts in 7 days. This arrangement will be further expanded if necessary.

The land minister said the recent winning of the land ministry's WSIS Prize and the United Nations Public Service Award indicates that the land ministry is on the right path under the prime minister's direction. 

The Land Minister advised the present Heads of Departments / Agencies to work in the 'Top-Down' method going 'Out-of-the-Box' if necessary to meet the APA target.

The Land Secretary expressed his commitment to implement the initiatives as per the annual performance agreement by ensuring efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

Senior officials of the Ministry including the heads of the departments/agencies under the Ministry of Land attended the signing ceremony of the APA agreement.

Chairman of the Land Appeal Board Amitabh Sarkar, Chairman of Land Reforms Board Soleman Khan, Director General of Land Records and Survey Department Md. Moazzem Hossain were present 

with others.
