Land ports restricted for foreigners’ entry

As part of the government’s move to stop the spread of pandemic coronavirus, it has imposed restriction on foreigners’ entry to the country through land ports with effect from yesterday (Sunday). The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notice in this regard on Saturday. As per the directives of the home ministry, no foreign nationals will be allowed to enter the country through the land ports of Benapole, Vomra, Banglabandha, Hili, Burimari, Roumari, Darshona, Nakugao, Tamabeel, Shawola and Akhaura.

There has been an outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in many countries around the world recently. In view of this, foreign nationals are restricted from entering Bangladesh through all the ports of the country with effect from March 22 till further directives are issued in this regard. The measures are taken as a precautionary measure to prevent further transmission of the coronavirus inside Bangladesh, said the notice. The home ministry's directives have already been sent to the departments and offices concerned.
