A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered to seize 354 satak (approximately 4.85 acres) of land registered under the names of Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, husband of Sheikh Rehana, and their son Radwan Mujib Siddiq (Bobby).

The property, valued at nearly Tk 1.95 crore, is currently under scrutiny by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order in response to a petition filed by the ACC.

According to ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Md. Tanzir Ahmed, the move was prompted by allegations that the family acquired assets disproportionate to their known income sources.

ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam, who submitted the petition, stated that investigators have found evidence suggesting attempts were being made to transfer or conceal the assets. To safeguard the integrity of the investigation, the ACC sought a court order to prevent any sale, transfer, or alteration of ownership until the inquiry is completed.

“The seizure will ensure that the properties remain intact and under ACC control during the ongoing investigation,” Monirul Islam added.

After hearing both sides, the court granted the ACC's request. Legal experts say this step is standard practice in high-profile asset verification cases, ensuring no tampering occurs during the investigative process.
