Land Minister on Thursday urged the Swiss investors to invest in the 100 special economic zones (SEZ) established in Bangladesh.
Minister made the call in a view exchange meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh, Nathalie Chuard while she courtesy call on the minister at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Ambassador praised the Land Service Digitization Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh.
The Land Minister appraised the Ambassador of Bangladesh government’s various initiatives of land management digitalization.
Ambassador assured of full cooperation in case Swiss assistance is required in setting up digital land services.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nathalie Chuard praised the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in taking up the initiatives of providing houses and land to the homeless and landless people, as well as initiatives of land service digitalization.
She said that the humanitarian initiative of giving away homes is playing an important role in poverty alleviation in Bangladesh.
The ambassador also informed the Land Minister that the Swiss government believes that the land service digitalization program is making an important contribution in ensuring the right to information and gender equality in Bangladesh as well as establishing transparency, accountability, and above all, sustainable good governance.
He added that sustainable land management will also play an important role in fighting climate change and achieving SDG goals. The ambassador added that Bangladesh is one of the priority partner countries of Switzerland.
The Land Minister thanked the Ambassador for his Swiss hospitality at the 2021 Investment Summit on Bangladesh's capital markets in Switzerland, saying the Swiss government, entrepreneurs and investors are one of the most important development partners in Bangladesh.
Land Minister expressed his strong optimism on the strengthening of the strategic, commercial, and global partnerships between the two countries.

Chittagong Hill Tracts was the closest thing in Bangladesh - Swiss Ambassador said at one point in the discussion, while sighting the alpine beauty of that region. Junior Program Officer of the Swiss Embassy in Bangladesh Jana Rothlisberger was also present at the moment.
