In name of land business, depriving the government revenue, a section of forceful people grab the land in both people and estate own land made fake documents of the land sold the innocent purchaser pocketed crore’s taka through illegally.
After vising several spots in the district, locals stated that land hoodlums in all five upazila in the district are sheltered under the portfolio politicians and have been capturing the poor people’s land and even the government land like as khas land, vested property, abandoned property in other kind of estate run institutions land such as railway land, BIWTA land and others in the district.
Like the others land grabbing, the government institutions Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), Roads and Highways Land (R&H) had already been grabbed by the land cohorts who reportedly patronize and aided by the portfolio politicians and their used unseen dishonest officials who didn’t pay heed on it.
It's common information in this district that anywhere has been forcibly occupying and capturing land illegally and if one sufferer tries to resist he has to suffer different categories of oppression and later he has to surrender to this gang in any way.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office informed that a total of 8047.45 acres has been recorded as Khas land in the district. But the same office wasn't able to confirm how much vested, abandoned and evacuated land or property in the district.
