‘Laljamin’ in memory of Mannan Hira

Mannan Hira, one of the country's greatest playwrights, passed away on December 23. ‘Laljamin’ is one of his notable plays. This play, which is widely acclaimed in the country and abroad, is being staged regularly.

To pay homage to Mannan Hira, the Shunyan Repertory Theatre will stage the 259th play 'Laljamin' on January 2, 2021 at 6 pm at Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium (Women's Association) Bailey Road. The play is preceded by a discussion on the life and work of Mannan Hira. Laljamin is basically a drama of the story of liberation war. Momena Chowdhury has acted solo in the play.

Meanwhile, on the last day of last year, on December 31, a memorial meeting of Mannan Hira was organized at Sirajganj Public Library. Mamunur Rashid, Ananta Hira, Fayez Zaheer, Momena Chowdhury, Khorshed Alam, Nithar Mahbub and other activists of Aranyak Natyadal participated there. Before the mourning ceremony, everyone visited the grave of Mannan Hira.

The first Laljamin drama was staged on 19 May 2011 at Natmandal in the capital. After that, Laljamin is being staged in different parts of the country and in different stages of the capital. Sudip Chakraborty, a talented young director, has directed the play 'Laljamin', the first production of Shunyan Repertory Theatre.

The story of the play 'Laljamin' is a narration of a fragment of the liberation war. The participation of a teenager in the great liberation war, the horrors of the war as the story progresses, the abandonment of the girl - finally gaining independence puts the audience in front of a new experience, 'Laljamin'.
