The film Lal Moroger Jhuti, based on the Liberation War, directed by renowned filmmaker Nurul Alam Atique to participate in the Toronto Multicultural Film Festival (TMFF)from July 18 to 23 in Toronto, Canada.
The film Lal Moroger Jhuti will be screened at Cineplex Odeon, Eglinton, Toronto under the Full-Length Fiction Film category, which also includes the Short Length Fiction Film and Documentary Film categories today July 18.
Laal Moroger Jhuti was released in Bangladesh cinemas on December 10, 2021. The film is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh.
Regarding the context director Nurul Alam Atique said, “the film ‘Lal Moroger Jhuti’ has received a good response earlier in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chattogram and Khulna. We worked hard for seven years to complete the film. Even after facing many hurdles, we did not stop shooting the film and feel really honoured as the film is participating in the Toronto Multicultural Film Festival.”
The film is produced by Pandulipi Karkhana, which got government grant in the financial year 2014-15. It was also screened at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival on 21 January this year.
The film stars Laila Hassan, Ahmed Rubel, Aashna Habib Bhawna, Shahjahan Shamrat, Ashish Khandakar, Ashok Byapari, Shilpi Sharkar, Apu, Joyraj, Ellora Gohor, Dilruba Doyle, Swagata, Jyothika Jyoti, Deepak Suman, Matiul Alam, Anant Munir Ahmed among others.
