Freedom fighters held a victory rally with the new generation in Lakshmipur on Friday marking Lakshmipur Free Day.

They rallied from the Government Samad High School premises and held a brief human chain-assembly at the Press Club premises after parading the main roads.

Under the banner of ‘Amra Kojon Mujib Sena', founder of the organisation, Awami League leader AF Jasim Uddin Ahmed, member of the organization Mujtaba Al Mamun, District Unit President of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee freedom fighter Razzaqul Haider Chowdhury and others spoke at the time.

At the rally, demands were made to immediately prepare a list of area-based Razakar Al-badar in memory of the martyred freedom fighters of 1971 and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

At the same time, the speakers also warned the conspirators on the issue regarding Bangabandhu's sculpture.

It may be mentioned that on that day in 1971, heroic freedom fighters liberated Lakshmipur from the clutches of the Pakistani occupying forces and hoisted the flag of independent Bangladesh.

During Liberation War, freedom fighters conducted 19 frontal battles and 29 operations in Lakshmipur. Freedom fighters attacked Bagbari in the district and forced the occupying forces to surrender on the day.
