Lakhs of pry children salute national flag, sing anthem every morning

Over two lakh children of 907 government primary schools in six upazilas of Jhenidah district take part in oath and sing national anthem every morning at their educational institutions. The minor students of the pre-primary to class five are the oath takers who promise of the sovereignty every day.

Visiting a number of primary schools, it was witnessed that the students in lines stand with national flag and their school dress. Headmasters of the schools said that usually they hoist the national flag at 9.00 sharp in the morning. At 9.15 AM all the learners and teachers attend for national anthem. The students practice the discipline and show respect to the green and red national flag with salute.

Rubina Akter Banu, headmaster of Hetampur Government Primary School at Shailkupa upazila, said a learner from the Muslim Community recites from the holy Quran, while Hindu Community child reads from the Gita.

In the oath taking event, the children promise that they will deploy them in serving the country with faith for unity and discipline. They expect blessings from the Almighty to make them able to serve the country and nation. During the oath, they learn some morality as a part of the oath after the anthem.

Rubina Akter Banu further said that the minor children from their early childhood learn how to love the country and the people and make their country a peaceful land irrespective of cast, creed and gender.

District Primary Education Office (DPEO) sources in Jhenidah said they have been running a total of 907 primary schools in the district where 217,585 students including the girls have been studying from pre-primary to class five. Upazila wise breakup of the primary schools are 215 in Jhenidah Sadar, 150 in Kaliganj, 74 in Kotchandpur, 152 in Moheshpur, 181 in Shailkupa and 135 primary schools in Harinakundu.

DPEO Jahangir Alam said that the government has taken initiatives to make the children aware about their duty, responsibility and accountability as well as patriotism considering the potential of the future generation. They also promise to refrain themselves from drug and other odds. His office has been keenly monitoring the activities in every primary school so that the teachers furnish their responsibility sincerely.
