Last year, a Bengali Romantic thriller ‘Kuasha Jakhon’ delivered something new to Bengali movie buffs. After all you don’t often get to see a subject like paranormal romance explored in Bengali cinema. Still, debutant directors Meenakshii and Abhishek tried their best to blend two completely different genres. There were some loopholes but the effort was commendable.

It’s very rare that we approach a genre like paranormal romance in Indian Cinema and ‘Kuasha Jakhon’ was surely a very different and difficult attempt of film making. With massive overtones of gothic and noir, the screenplay gave an exclusive character-sketch with Gargee Roy Chowdhury’s standout performance being the pillar of the film.

Now, the horror flick has been nominated as the only Bengali film among 12 other Films under the Best Asian Feature Film Category at the London International Motion Picture Awards (L.I.M.P.A.) 2019.

Gargee Roy Chowdhury plays Rajeshwari in the film which is one of the most crucial characters that sums up the mystery in the film. The versatile actress shares the screen with debutant Rishav, a popular face in the theatre world. The rest of the cast includes Shataf Figar, Manali Dey, Anindya Pulak Banerjee, Sudeshna Roy, Saon and others.
