KU convocation on Dec 22

A total of 7,008 graduates, post-graduates will attend the 6th convocation of Khulna University (KU), the biggest in its history, to be held on December 22(Sunday), reports BSS. President Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, will preside over the event at the central playground on KU campus.

Members of Cabinet Division, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation, Members of Parliament, Secretaries of different ministry, vice-chancellors of different University, Deputy Commissioner of the division, Law-enforcement agency, local government bodies and noted educationalist are expected to attend the convocation. The programme will begin at 2.05pm. Graduates can collect their certificates after completion of the convocation ceremony.

In the convocation, a total of 23 gold medals will be distributed among students for their outstanding performance for academic results and contributions. A total of 8 researchers will be conferred with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees and 5 researchers will be given Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degrees.

 Teachers and students of KU and the affiliated colleges have already collected their invitation cards and academic costumes.

KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Fayekuzzaman yesterday exchanged views with Special Security Force (SSF) about the convocation in a coordination meeting at VC’s Office.

He said that all preparations for the convocation ceremony have already been completed. The overall security of the event has also been ensured.

“The convocation day is the most important day in the life of the students. Through this program, they receive academic certificates and medals,” Fayekuzzaman added.
