Krishna Pada Roy takes over as CMP commissioner

Deputy Inspector General of Police Krishna Pada Roy has joined as the 31st Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.  Earlier he was serving as Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

He took charge of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner on Monday.  At this time, senior officers of CMP welcomed the new police commissioner with flowers.  Later, a four hundred police team gave armed salute to the office of Sadar CMP.

Before taking charge, the new CMP Commissioner laid wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dampara Police Lines. Tanveer's royal farewell from CMP, new commissioner joined on Monday.

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Shyamal Kumar Nath, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Md. Shamsul Alam, Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration and Finance) Sana Shaminur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Md Amir Zafar.

  Krishna Pada Roy is the first child of Gopal Chandra Roy and Rama Rani Roy of Halitala village in Sadar Union of Nabiganj Upazila.  He obtained Honours and Masters Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Dhaka University.  After that, he served as a staff reporter for the English Daily Star in Dhaka for some time.

He passed the 15th BCS examination in 1995 and was recruited in Bangladesh Police.  His career started in Bogra.  After that served as Assistant Commissioner of Chattogram City Police (CMP).  After getting promoted Krishna Pada Roy served as Superintendent of Police of Sherpur District and Chandpur District.  Once again promoted as Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Deputy Commissioner of DB Police in Dhaka.

Later, he was promoted to the rank of DIG while serving as Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and served as Additional Police Commissioner Crime and Operations.  He was last given the full charge of Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on November 7 last year.

A keen police officer, the officer served in the UN Peacekeeping Commission in Kosovo in 2002-03, Liberia in 2006-07, and the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Sudan from 2012-13.
