Chattogram District and Sessions Judge Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan gave gown to Krishna Das who was listed as the first lawyer from the Harijan community in the country.

He was gowned in a reception organized at the District and Sessions Judge’s Court auditorium of Chattogram Court Building on Thursday afternoon.  District PP Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury presided the programme at Chattogram District Public Prosecutor's Office.

In his speech as the chief guest, Chattogram District and Sessions Judge Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan said, “The example that Krishna Das has set for the backward communities is undoubtedly worthy of praise.  His concentration and hard work brought him success.  It is a great pleasure and honour to enlist Krishna Das as an advocate.

“It is nobody's business to make any kind of difference between people, to divide them into high and low castes. Every human being comes in the world at the behest of the creator. He is nurtured in the families, clans and communities to which he sends them. We are Muslims by birth, others are Harijans by birth. This is the difference between us,” said the district judge.

Krishna Das's parents are cleaners (servants) of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC). He got involved in that work with his parents since childhood, but he continued his study with work.  He passed LLB (Honours) from Private Premier University of Chattogram in 2018. Enrolled as a lawyer in the Bar Council on March 9.

In the President's speech, Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury, official PP of Chattogram District and Sessions Judge Court, said, “We are happy to welcome Krishna Das. Hope, he will work as a real servant of law to bring justice to the aspirants. He enriched his community and inspired generations through concentration. Congratulations to him for this success.”

Additional Government PP Azharul Haque presided over the reception and among others, District Bar Association President Nazim Uddin Chowdhury, First Joint District Judge Khairul Amin, District Bar Association General Secretary Ashraf Hossain Chowdhury and District Legal Aid Officer Ibrahim Khalil were present.
