Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Krishak League plated saplings at Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Monday. The plantation was furnished on the campus of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) as a part of national tree plantation activities.
Upazila agriculture officer (UAO) Sanjoy Kumar Kundu inaugurated the plantation programme as the chief guest.
Shailkupa upazila unit leaders of Krishak League said as per the instruction of the Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, they have arranged the programme to ensure ecology-friendly environment throughout the country.
It will play slight role in environment development activities.
Shailkupa upazila unit president of Bangladesh Krishak League and vice chairman of Shailkupa upazila parishad Jahidunnabi Kalu, organizing secretary Anisur Rahman, fisheries and livestock affair secretary SM Shahadat Hossain, Amirul Islam among others present during the event.
The leaders said plantation of saplings might help the nation from any natural calamities. Each and everybody should take initiatives to plant more and more sapling on their homestead or other suitable place which not so costly, they said.
