Masud Rana, a leader of the Krishak Dal in Ranishankoil municipality, has been expelled from all party positions after threatening to blow up the Ranishankoil Press Club and tie a journalist to the back of a motorcycle to parade around the town.
The incident gained attention after several media outlets reported the threat on Saturday under the headline, “Krishak Dal Leader Threatens to Blow Up Ranishankoil Press Club.”
Later that evening, at 9 PM, the district unit of Krishak Dal issued a press release signed by its General Secretary Taufiqur Rahman Uzzal, confirming Masud Rana’s expulsion for “serious misconduct and unethical behaviour.”
The statement clarified that the Thakurgaon district Krishak Dal would not take responsibility for any of Rana’s actions and instructed party members to sever all organisational ties with him.
Khurshid Alam Shawon, General Secretary of Ranishankoil Press Club, said Rana had long engaged in illegal activities under the Krishak Dal’s name.
Following the expulsion, local journalists alleged that Rana was involved in illegal casino operations and cybercrime, and demanded his immediate arrest to prevent him from fleeing the country.
