Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy's ‘Konttho’, which releases this Friday, May 10, has sent the social media into a tizzy with some amazing responses coming from the Bengali audience and critics alike.

While many have heaped praise on the emotionally-drenched trailer, acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rajesh Nair has taken one step farther and bought the copyright of the film even before its theatrical release.

“I am intrigued by the magic they create on screen. I watched Konttho’s trailer and I am convinced that this is going to be a successful film. The story is so relatable to everyone irrespective of the language they speak in,” said Nair, who incidentally had also bought the copyright of ‘Haami’ before.

The story of ‘Konttho’ revolves around an inspiring real-life story of a laryngeal cancer survivor. In the film, Shiboprosad Mukherjee himself plays the character of a RJ Arjun Mullick, while Paoli Dam plays his wife Pritha and Jaya Ahsan dons the role of a speech therapist.

Nair has already announced the title of the Malayalam version of ‘Konttho’ which has been named ‘Shabdam’ and noted actor Jayasurya will be seen as the protagonist in the film.
