The President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), CHANG, Won Sam has expressed KOICA’s commitment to advancing this partnership through long-term, sustainable, and people-centered initiatives during his visit to Bangladesh.

CHANG has concluded a highly significant three-day official visit to Bangladesh, marking another milestone in the strong and enduring development partnership between the Republic of Korea and the Government of Bangladesh.

A highlight of the visit was the President’s meeting with the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding development cooperation in areas of mutual priority.

The discussions centered on Korea’s continued support for Bangladesh’s development aspirations, with particular emphasis on public sector modernization, digital transformation, human capital development, and climate-resilient growth.

The President’s engagements included a comprehensive visit to the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), where he was received by the Chief Engineer.

He reviewed the ongoing collaboration between KOICA and RHD, including initiatives aimed at improving highway safety, traffic management, and bridge maintenance through advanced digital technologies.

Following presentations by project leaders, the KOICA President visited the Traffic Management Center and symbolically handed over vehicles to enhance operational efficiency. This gesture underscored KOICA’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s transition toward a more reliable and intelligent road transport system.

In the health sector, CHANG visited the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER), a flagship KOICA-funded institution. He praised NIANER’s continued contribution to strengthening Bangladesh’s nursing workforce and expressed KOICA’s strong support for the establishment of the country’s first PhD program in Nursing.

He emphasized that advancing higher-level nursing education would reinforce the national health system, deepen research capacity, and help shape a new generation of highly qualified faculty and nurse leaders. He acknowledged the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, DGNM, and NIANER in sustaining the institute’s impact and ensuring academic excellence.
