The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Bangladesh Office, in cooperation with the University of Dhaka, successfully organized Korean Cultural Day 2026 at the Institute of Modern Languages, bringing together students, academics, and cultural enthusiasts for a day of vibrant cultural exchange.
The event featured a series of engaging activities, including K-pop dance performances, interactive quiz competitions, and a K-pop dance imitation challenge. Participants also explored Korean heritage through exhibition booths, traditional games, a virtual reality showcase, and a dedicated photo booth that captured memorable moments throughout the day.
At the opening ceremony, KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Mr. Jihoon Kim emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening bilateral relations, highlighting KOICA’s continued commitment to fostering people-to-people connections alongside development cooperation.
The Treasurer of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, appreciated KOICA’s initiative in his remarks. Such events provide valuable platforms for students to engage with global cultures beyond the classroom. He emphasized that cultural exchange initiatives help broaden perspectives, strengthen mutual understanding, and inspire youth to become active global citizens.
The President of the KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA), Mr. Md Saifullah Panna, Secretary (Attached), Ministry of Public Administration, highlighted the role of alumni in strengthening ties between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea. He noted that KOICA alumni act as vital bridges between the two countries and encouraged students to explore learning and collaboration through the CIAT (Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow) program, which annually offers Master’s, PhD, and short-term training scholarship opportunities to Bangladeshi government officials.
The program also included a knowledge sharing on KOICA’s training and scholarship opportunities, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to capacity development and knowledge exchange.
The event concluded with a certificate handover to volunteers from the University of Dhaka and with the closing remarks, Deputy Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh, Mr. Junsu Kim, appreciated all partners and participants for their active engagement.
Since 1993, KOICA has been working closely with Bangladesh to support sustainable development and strengthen bilateral cooperation. Korean Cultural Day 2026 further reflects the shared commitment to deepening people-to-people connections through cultural understanding.
