The prices of vegetables, onion and other essential commodities have gone up in the market during the week.
The prices of groceries including rice, lentil, and oil are also hitting the pockets of consumers.
The situation has been observed after visiting a good number of kitchen markets in the capital on Friday.
Onion prices have increased in the markets over the past week. Per kg onion is being sold at Tk 60 with an increase of Tk 15. All kinds of vegetables are also being sold at high prices.
However, the prices of eggs and chickens have remained unchanged.
Lady's finger and yardlong bean prices have increased unusually during the week. Per kg yardlong bean is being sold at Tk 14-160 and per kg lady's finger at Tk 110-120. Bitter gourd is being sold at Tk 100-120.
Per kg tomato is being sold at Tk 40-60, beans at Tk 60-70, brinjal at Tk 50-70, carrot at Tk 40, pumpkin at Tk 40, radish at Tk 30-40 and snake gourd at Tk 50.
A large size cauliflower and cabbage is being sold at Tk 50-60 per piece, and gourd at Tk 50.
New and old Potatoes are being sold at Tk 10-20 per kg in markets. Green chillies are being sold at Tk 100-120 per kg.
Green bananas are being sold at Tk 40 per four pieces, per kg papaya at Tk 50-55 and cucumber at Tk 80, and per four pieces lemon is being sold at Tk 20.
Broiler chickens are being sold at Tk 160-165 per kg. Sonali chicken is being sold at Tk 290-320 per kg and layer chicken is being sold at Tk 240-250 per kg.
A dozen of red eggs is being sold at Tk 115-120. Dozen of duck eggs are being sold at Tk 195. A dozen of local chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 210. A dozen of Sonali chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 180.
Dried chilies are being sold at Tk 150 to Tk 250 per kg, garlic at Tk 80-130, ginger at Tk 140 and turmeric at Tk 160 to Tk 220 per kg. Besides, Indian lentils are being sold at Tk 90-95 per kg and local lentils at Tk 110-115 per kg.
Per liter edible oil is being sold at Tk 180. Sugar is being sold at Tk 80 per kg. Besides, a packet of sugar is being sold at Tk 85 per kg.
