Kishoreganj small cattle farmers in uncertainty

In Kishoreganj, cattle farmers have prepared 81,337 sacrificial cattle including bulls, bullocks, cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep for Eid-ul-Azha. This number is said to be more than needed for the district, sellers in the area inform.

According to Kishoreganj District Animal Resources Department, there is a demand of 75,000 sacrificial cattle in the district. 

And 81 thousand 337 cattle have been prepared for this year. Which will be in excess of the target. 18,221 farmers of the district have produced 47,497 bulls, 4,107 bullocks, 9,351 cows, 1,279 buffaloes, 16,046 goats, 2,840 sheep and 162 others. 47 veterinary medical teams have already been formed for the primary treatment of cattle at Qurbani Hat. 238 butchers and 250 seasonal butchers have been trained for skinning and preservation. 13 online Qurbani Hat have been opened. Every day, pictures of cattle are being uploaded. Farmers are being encouraged to sell online. 

This year, cows have been fattened by feeding straw, bran and raw grass using modern information technology. Harmful steroid hormone chemicals for health are not being used, farmers said. Meanwhile, several farm owners in Kishoreganj said that they have invested Hundreds of thousands of taka in raising cows and goats throughout the year in  the hope of making a profit ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. But due to Covid-19 infection, no wholesaler has come to the farms so far.
