Kings show prowess, Abahani share points

Bashundhara Kings demonstrated their real performance in the season when they just demolished Chittagong Abahani Limited by 5-0 in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football on Friday. 

Held at the Bashundhara Kings ground, Brazilan Robinho, captain of the team accompanied by the local boys Sumon Reja and Ibrahim and Nigerain born Bangladeshi Elita Kingsley produced another comfortable win that helped them to remain on top. 

After winning the match, Bashundhara are leading the points table with 21 from eight matches when Chittagong Abhani Limited from as many earned 12 points. 

In the day’s other matches, Abahani Limited saw a setback after a 1-1 draw with the Swadhinota Krira Sangha at the Nuktijodhu Smiriti Stadium, Rajshahi. 

Abahani Limited, one of the top favourites among the title contenders, who lost three points after conceding defeat at the hands of Chittagong Abahani, bounced back defeating Saif Sporting Club in the next match but again saw an upset when lowly Swadhinota KS forced them to share points. 

Nabib Newaz Jibon led Abahani Limited early on 17th minute but the giants could not increase tally and after struggling a much conceded a goal on 80th when Hussain of Swadhinota to help of obtaining valuable points. 

However, in city at Bashundhara Sports Complex, after a 4-0 first-half, it just seemed that Kings would celebrate a record margin win at their home venue, could add one more goals in the second half. 

Apart from captain Robson’s double strike, in front of a passionate some five thousand fans at the Bashundhara Sports Complex, Jibon, Ibrahim and Elita Kingsley struck a piece to keep Kings on the top of the points table.  

Meanwhile, according to the schedule, it was home match for Chittagong Abahani and for Kings an away encounter. But due to unavailability of Dhirendranath Datta Stadium Cumilla, Chittagong Abahani played their home match at Kings (opponents) ground. 

It was third consecutive third win of Bashindhara at their own venue. 

Bashundhara prompted on with three quick-fire goals inside half an hour mark of the match to lift them beyond CTG Abahani reach with Sumon Reza initiated scoring on 17th minute when Robson Robinho and Ibrahim struck in a span of four minutes on 28 and 32nd minute.

Robson, who opened his account on 28th, scored his second on just 45th minute, seconds before to the last whistle of the opening 45 minutes of the game to lead 4-0 and Elita kingsley joined the celebration on 80th minute. 

In the other match of day Saif Sporting Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club also shared points after a 2-2 draw at the Bir Sreshtha, Flight Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium, Munshiganj. 

Valizhonov and Souleymane Sillah for Sheikh Jamal when Sunday Udho scored twice to snatch a point for Saif.

After the match Sheikh Jamal earned 16 points when Saif SC made their tally 11, both sides played their eighth round match.
