Kings return to winning ways

Defending Champions Bashundhara Kings edged past Bangladesh police by 3-0 in the seventh round of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh, on Saturday.

In the other two matches, Chittagong Abahani won over Sheikh Russell by 2-1 at Bir Sreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Munshiganj, and Sheikh Jamal DC beat Fortis FC by a solitary goal at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Goplaganj.

Kings Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferreira scored in just seven minutes of the outings. Attacking midfielder Mohammed Rakib Hossain doubled the margin for the team in the 21st minute. Skipper Robinho pushed the ball to Rakib, and the midfielder did not make any mistakes. He netted the ball.

Uzbekistan midfielder Asror Gafurov sealed the third goal for the Kings. With this goal, the kings are certain of their victory in the match.

Bashundhara Kings now have 18 points from seven encounters, while Bangladesh Police earned seven points and lost four from the same number of outings. Two strikers, Rana and Sagor, scored in the second half as Chittagong Abahani registered their second win in the BPL with 2-1 goals.

Sheikh Russell’s Burundi striker Landry Selemani rediced the margin scored in the dying minutes of the match. With this win, Chittagong Abahani have nine points, and Sheikh Russell has six points from seven outings.

Meanwhile, forward Mohammed Foysal Ahmed Fahim scored in the 63rd minute of the match as Sheikh Jamal DC beat Fortis FC. Sheikh Jamal earned nine points, while Fortis FC collected six from seven matches.
