Bashundhara Kings, the Bangladesh champions now can set their sights on making a room in the Inter-Zone semi-finals of the AFC Cup when they snatched a thrilling win with a last 10 minutes drama against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of Maldives on Monday.

By virtue of the most coveted win, Kings are just one point away to mode into the Inter-Zone semi-finals of the AFC Cup.

Held at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, the hosts desperately needed the victory to remain in pole position to advance to the Inter-Zone semi-finals to move into the knockout phase and made it success after coming from a goal down with late winning strike from Miguel Dhamasceno.

Meanwhile, Odisha FC made the task for the Kings easier when they (Odisha FC) defeated Mohun Bagan in a seven goals thriller on same day by 5-2. Now Bashundhara Kings need a draw when they will next travel to India’s Odisha FC in their final Group D fixture on December 11.

The win of Odisha FC meant Mohun Bagan and Maziya left no chance to advance to the Inter-Zone semi-finals.

After winning the match Bashundhara Kings now are on to of the standings with 10 points followed by Odisha are on second position with nine after their stunning win against Mohun Bagan and they also have every chance to advance to the next phase.

So for the Bangladesh champions it will not easy going to win the match at the home of Odisha FC, as they are highly boosted up after thrashing the Mohun Bagan Super Giants by 5-2. They will try not to leave enough space for Bashundhara Kings to win the match.

But a draw will enough for the visitors Bashundhara Kings to reah their goal to play in the Inter-Zone semi-finals in their third attempt.

Meanwhile, this is the third time in a row, Basundhara Kings won their match coming from behind when they were trailing by a goal against Odisha FC at King’s Arena and then won the match by 2-1, against Mohun Bagan also coming from a goal down they won the match by same margin 2-1 at same ground.

Interestingly, Kings snatched the deserved victory with demonstrating better performances and playing with full authority in all three matches but unfortunately conceded early goal.

After winning the match on Monday against Maziya, to whom they suffered defeat in away match in Male by 3-1, were in a must win situation to remain on the race to advance to the Inter-Zone semi-finals.
