We express profound shock and sorrow at the unnatural death of Fardin Noor Parash, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

Fardin Noor Parash was a 3rd year student of Buet’s civil engineering department and a resident of Qutubpur at Fatullah in Narayanganj district. Police recovered his body from the Shitalakkhya river behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj, three days after he went missing.

On November 4, Fardin left for the campus from his home after the Juma prayer as he had a quiz the following day, but he did neither return home nor attend the quiz. He was also unreachable on the phone. When he left home, he had taken his mobile, watch and money bag. Later, his father Nuruddin Rana lodged a general diary with Rampura Police in this regard.

A physician at Narayanganj General Hospital where the autopsy was done, said the Buet student Fardin has been murdered, saying there were several injury marks in his head and in chest. Obviously it is a killing as per primary investigation the physician said adding a report would be submitted soon after autopsy.

This tragic death of a bright student has saddened the people of the whole country. Fardin’s father Nuruddin Rana also claimed that his son has been murdered.

The killersof Fardin

must be brought to

justice

Nuruddin Rana said his son was very decent and soft hearted. He was very friendly and was closely involved in extra-curricular activities like debating and social works. Demanding justice for his son’s (Fardin) death Nuruddin Rana has also sought the interference of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard.

This murder incident also triggered a firestorm of protests on Buet campus. Students of Buet continued forming human chain on campus and staging demonstration, demanding justice for fellow student Fardin Noor Parash’s death. They demanded immediate arrest of those behind Fardin’s death after identifying them.

Many people took to social media to demand justice for Fardin. Besides, country’s people, irrespective of religion, caste and creed raised their voice against the murder of a student of a prestigious university of the country.

The killers of Fardin must be brought to justice. Members of law enforcers including Rab and DB must take steps to arrest the killers and unearth the mystery of the murder. We do not want our students to meet the same tragic end of lives further.
