The organised armed kidnappers have become much more dangerous across the country in recent time. Therefore, kidnapping-for-ransom, or hostage-taking has also become big business for the armed goons. Local people and students on Monday foiled an attempt of some miscreants to abduct a class X student and set the microbus used by them on fire in Faridpur municipal area. They caught two suspected adductors, according to media report.
The members of gang usually wait patiently with their cars or microbus in the crowded intersection or adjacent areas. When the gang members get scope, they pick up the targeted person at gunpoint. Later the armed goons take them to a solitary place, issue threat and torture the victims for ransom.
The gang members then call the victim’s family and ask for ransom through mobile financial services. Until the family sent the money, the criminals continue the torture while taking the victims to different areas. The armed goons also warn the relatives that victim would be killed if they do not pay the ransom money and report the matter to the police.
Increase police patrolling
and beat policing activities
to prevent such
dreadful abduction
It is very unfortunate that the criminals get bail and get involved in criminal activities again. We think as the members of kidnapping gang do not face serious punishment and get bail, they are being encouraged to commit such dreadful crime again.
As abduction is a heinous crime, the government should be determined to ensure the culprits “maximum punishment”. First of all, everyone should be much more vigilant, not just on the roads but also when leaving and arriving at home and work.
Apart from kidnapping, various crimes like terrorism, murder, extortion, harassment and rape, kidnapping are happening. Members of law enforcement agencies must perform their duties properly at different strategic and crowded points in cities, towns and on the roads and highways to ensure safe travelling of people.
The law enforcers will also have to increase police patrolling and beat policing activities to prevent such dreadful abduction. All officers-in-charge (OCs) of the police stations must remain vigilant in the areas within their purview to restrict suspected criminals and their activities.
Moreover, several mobile teams will have to patrol the city as well as vulnerable areas of the districts alongside conducting special raids in the town and even remote villages to nab the criminals.
