Kidnapped worker rescued from Chatmohar, bKash agent arrested

Pabna's Chatmohar police on Sunday rescued a kidnapped worker from Sahapur (Diarpara) village in Mulgram union of the upazila. 

The abducted worker Shahanur (24) is the son of Babu Khan of Raishimul village in Dulai union of Sujanagar upazila. Chatmohar police have arrested notorious Shahed Chor and another development agent on charges of being involved in the incident.

Officer-in-charge of Chatmohar Police Station Anwar Hossain said the worker came to Pabna on Saturday in search of work. The area was not quite known to him and he looked into different shops in search of work talking to many people.

He was abducted from Ataikula Road area around 8 pm. When Shahanur did not return home, his family members started looking for him. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of one lakh taka. Shahanur's relatives sent Tk 7,500 to a number through bKash and lodged a complaint with Pabna Sadar Police Station. Based on the allegations, Pabna Sadar Police with the help of information technology confirmed that Shahanur has been detained in Sahapur (Diarpara) village area of Mulgram Union of Chatmohar. 

Upon receiving the news, Officer-in-Charge of Chatmohar Police Station Anwar Hossain along with allied forces raided the house of notorious Shahed Chor, son of Abdul Jalil of Sahapur (Diarpara) village and rescued Shahanur and arrested Shahed Chor. Police were also able to arrest Abul Hashem, a development agent, son of Shukur of Baludia village.

He added that the rescued workers were handed over to Pabna Sadar Police Station on Sunday morning. He was later admitted to Pabna Sadar Hospital upon being injured. The arrested persons are being questioned in this regard. It was stated that if anyone else is involved, they will be brought under the law and necessary legal action will be taken as soon as possible.
