Khurshid Alam to be awarded

Citibank NA Bangladesh has been providing the ‘Gaane Gaane Gunijon Shongbordhona’ award to prominent maestros in the music arena for over a decade and a half. At the beginning in 2004, Nilufar Yasmin was honored through ‘Gaane Gaane Gunijon Shongbordhona’.

Meanwhile, the award was given to the artists including Firoza Begum, Sanjida Khatun, Sohrab Hossain, Ferdousi Rahman, Farida Parveen, Alauddin Ali, Sabina Yasmeen, Runa Laila, Ferdous Waheed and others.

This year, the award is being given to the country's most talented musician Khurshid Alam for his outstanding contribution to music.

The artiste will be honoured at a five-star hotel in Dhaka tomorrow evening. Muhin will sing a song in honor of Khurshid Alam that evening at the ‘Gaane Gaane Gunijon Shongbordhona’.

Khurshid Alam said, “Honor is always a joy. It also speeds up work. This honor would be great. May everyone pray that I can do better songs in the future.”

Relevant, Md Khurshid Alam was born in 1946 in Jaipurhat. The first song he sang for films was in August 1, 1969. The song was titled ‘Bondi Pakhir Mato’ for the film ‘Agantuk’ directed by Babul Chowdhury. The song changed the course of his life. Since then Md Khurshid Alam has made more than five hundred songs. Most of these songs are from films. Although he is more popular for his songs from films and modern music, Khurshid Alam started his journey with Rabindra Sangeet.
