Khulna to go tough on wearing mask

Decisions have been taken in an emergency meeting of Virus Infection Resistance Committee of Khulna to ensure the use of masks, free-distribution of masks and punitive measures and imposition of a fine against those violating the order of wearing masks to face the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

Presided over by Helal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna, the meeting held the conference room of the DC on Sunday was attended, among others, by Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Secretary ( Coordination and Reform) in charge of Resistance of Coronavirus Infection in Khulna district Kamal Hossain, Divisional Commissioner of Khulna M. Anowar Hossain Hawlader, Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital Munshi Reza Sekander, Vice Principal of Khulna Medical College Dr. Mehedi Newaz, Deputy Police Commissioner of KMP Mohammad Ehsan Shah, Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr. Sujat Ahmed and Assistant Director of Health Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.

According to the meeting sources, the percentage of Coronavirus attack in Khulna is only 4 per cent whereas the average countrywide per cent of the same is 14 per cent.

It was further revealed through the meeting that the rate of identification and death of Corona patients is far less than many districts of the country because the necessary timely step is taken in Khulna in this connection.
