Khulna Day observed

The Khulna Day-2019 was observed through different programmes. Khulna began its journey as a district on April 25 in 1882 by a government gazette notification. So, the Khulna Day is observed to recall the historic background.

Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee (GKDACC), a committee floated by local people of Khulna region, chalked out elaborate programme marking the 137th founding anniversary of Khulna district.

The four-day programme began on Thursday (April 25). Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Mohammad Helal Hossain inaugurated the Khulna Day Mela at Mazid Sarani Road GKDACC office premises in the city on that day. Discussion, rally, cultural function and cutting of birthday cake were organised in observance of the day. 

A colourful rally was brought out in the city on Saturday morning from Shibbari Square that paraded the main city streets and concluded in front of GKACC office. 

A discussion meeting was held in front of GKDACC office. Secretary General of GKDACC Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain, presided over the meeting. 

President of Khulna city Awami League and Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque, general secretary and former MP Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP of Khulna sadar constituency Sheikh Salauddin Juwel, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Lokman Hossain Miah, Additional Divisional Commissioner (development) Nischinta Kumar Poddar, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md Helal Hossain, president of Khulna city BNP Nazrul Islam Monju, general secretary of the unit and former Mayor Md Moniruzzaman, panel mayor-1 of KCC Aminur Rahman Munna, panel mayor-2 Ali Akbar Tipu, pannel mayor-3 Memory Sufia Rahman Shunu, Awami League leader Advocate Md Saiful Islam, president of Khulna Press Club SM Habib,  general secretary GKDACC Sheikh Ashraf-uz-Zaman among others, spoke on the occasion.

After the discussion, GKDACC office with the help of District Shilpakala Academy, Khulna arranged a cultural function.
